INDONESIAN CABIN CREW DISPUTE RESOLVED:

It was reported last night that this dispute has been resolved, with management responding to the union's demands. Details of the settlement are not yet available, however, on behalf of IKAGI, the ITF would like to thank unions for expressing their solidarity, which certainly played a role in achieving this positive result.

Indonesia: Cabin crew dispute

The ITF has written to Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, urging talks in a cabin crew dispute which may result in industrial action - at the same time as the railway dispute we recently reported

ITF affiliates are also asked to send letters in this case, following a report from the ITF-affiliated aviation union Garuda Indonesia Flight Attendant Association - IKAGI. According to the information the ITF has received, the union is currently negotiating over numerous issues including pay and working conditions as well as cabin crew licensing. During this process, Garuda Indonesia management failed to come to the bargaining table in good faith. The issue of a cabin crew licence continues to be raised during the negotiations, without resolution. A threat to the check-off system for union membership dues has been made.

Attached is the text of a letter from the ITF General Secretary - similar letters have been sent to Ministers and to Garuda management. Please send your protests to:
