29 Jan 2007 Update: BA strike action called off
A planned two-day strike by thousands of British Airways cabin crew has been called off, as of today. Talks between BA and the Transport and General Workers Union had been going on over the weekend, in order to try and avert industrial action on Tuesday and Wednesday. BA executives and union leaders said an agreement had been reached on the key issue of pay and the management of sickness absence. BA will now attempt to reinstate as many flights as possible.
As soon as we know more details about the agreement, we will try and update you all, but for now - there is not going to be a strike.
Thank you very much for the many solidarity notes we had already received, they were a good "barometer" for how quickly we can act together if need be.
Our warmest regards from London,
Ingo Marowsky
ITF Civil Aviation Secretary

Solidarity with striking British Airways cabin crew
The ITF is supporting British Airways cabin crew, the vast majority of whom are members of the ITF-affiliated Transport and General Workers' Union (TGWU), in their dispute with the airline, which has resulted in industrial action taking place on 30 and 31 January.
The TGWU, which has said the company is putting "putting their procedures before progress and passengers" wants the company to agree on implementation of sickness absence policy and deal with two-tier pay issues.
