ISAN's SeafarerHelp
SeafarerHelp
SeafarerHelp is a confidential helpline service operated by the International Seafarers Assistance Network (ISAN) for all Seafarers and their families. Women seafarers who would prefer to speak to a woman officer can request a call back from a female Seafarerhelp Services Officer if one is not immediately available. The service is absolutely free and from some countries, even the telephone call is free. To find out if freephone is available in the country you are calling from, you can pick up one of our cards from any seafarer centre or visit our website at www.seafarerhelp.org. Our non-freephone number is + 44 20 SEAFARER (73232737).
SeafarerHelp women Officers come from several countries and therefore may understand some of the cultural issues which women seafarers face. Though all calls to the helpline are initially answered in English, SeafarerHelp currently offers a call-back service from women officers in the following eight languages: Russian, Mandarin, Greek, Turkish, Tagalog, Danish, Norwegian and Swedish. Therefore women seafarers who would prefer to speak to a woman in one of these languages can request that at the time of making the initial contact to the service.
Alternatively, Seafarers who would prefer to make contact via email, can do so in any of the above languages plus Portuguese, Spanish, French, Georgian, Ukrainian and German. Send your email enquiry to info@seafarerhelp.org.
