The Trustees welcome grant applications from organisations such as welfare agencies, religious bodies, independent missions, etc. Grant applications from trade unions interested in welfare work for seafarers in every part of the world are also welcome to apply.

In order to qualify for grants an applicant should have a proven record of dealing with seafarers' welfare. In addition, there are other technical requirements to ensure that an applicant is eligible for the Trust funds.

Trust grants are intended to be additional to and not a substitute for other financial support currently made available from government, other charity or funding body, church or other public bodies.

The Trust actively tries to allocate its funds as widely, and to as many welfare organisations as possible in order to give an equal opportunity to each agency, organisation or mission. For this reason, an organisation which has already received a number of Trust grants over a short time period may find it more difficult to apply successfully for further Trust support.

Endorsement of your application

Endorsement must be received from an appropriate national seafarers' union affiliated to the ITF. Where such a union does not exist, the Trust will refer the matter to an appropriate union in another country. However, the Trust may also ask for views from any appropriate agency or individuals.

Inquiries/Questions

We are committed to providing you with the best information, in the best way possible. If you would like to make comments or suggestions for improving publications, procedures or even when assessing the Trust policy for the future, please let us know.
