Read reports of activities for the Action Week:
On 7-14 October 2011, unions and their members will come together to organise a variety of activities to highlight issues linked to the slogan, "Safety Now!"
Our campaign slogan "Safety Now!" encompasses the traditional slogan 'fatigue kills!' but also includes wider themes linked to health and safety which the Road Transport Workers' Section is focusing on. We are targeting all road transport workers including passenger and freight. The ITUC Day for Decent Work is scheduled to be held on 7 October 2011.
Fatigue and road safety are two important themes that unions can highlight during this Action Week.HIV/AIDS , violence and sexual harassment at work and container cargo safety are also key health & Safety issues that the ITF has been working on.
Can your union use the Action Week to promote awareness and to take action on these issues?
As part of the 2011 action week 10 October has been designated as a day of action for dismissed DHL Norway worker Monica Okpe. Demonstrations are being planned to show solidarity with Monica and other DHL workers worldwide. Find out more >>
