Latest on the Gate Gourmet dispute, as at 17:00, Tuesday 16 August 2005

16 August 2005

Talks between Gate Goumet and the TGWU have broken down over the company's refusal to reinstate all those they sacked. Ingo Marowsky, Secretary of the ITF's Civil Aviation Section, responded: "A day after its shabby plans to shed staff through subterfuge were revealed, Gate Gourmet is building itself a trench. They appear to have forgotten the rule that when you're in a hole, you stop digging. The offer of a negotiated settlement is on the table - it's up to them to grasp it. And, frankly, it's time for British Airways to ask them what the hell they think they're doing."
