New website for UPS workers in the UK
27 June 2008
UPS workers in the UK can now tap into all the latest news about the company and find out about the wider world of logistics, thanks to a brand new website.
Set up by members of the ITF-affiliated union Unite, the site provides national and regional news updates and is designed to supplement and strengthen traditional union organisation structures.
Unite National Convenor John Boodle said: "The site is designed to provide both information and a communication platform for activists and members. The potential is enormous.
"While I would like to see more well attended workplace and branch meetings I have to acknowledge that time is a valuable commodity and people have a variety of commitments outside of work. Forums on this site will allow members to communicate with each other and discuss matters which concern them at work. It will enable activists to take up and act upon the issues that matter to them."
"We are hoping to create a regional stewards' structure at UPS and hold more regional and centre based meetings, these meetings and agendas can be advertised on this site," said Boodle.
The website can be accessed at: http://www.uniteatups.org.uk
