Best practice guidance on successful seafarers’ centres launched
18 March 2010
A new publication designed to provide an insight into ways of running successful seafarers’ centres was launched earlier this month.
The new document, Successful seafarers’ centres, produced by the ITF Seafarers’ Trust and the International Christian Maritime Association (ICMA) outlines the essentials of operating a well-run seafarers’ centre. It offers advice to those already running centres as well as those just starting out on new projects – whether land based or focused on ship visiting. The document aims to share best practice examples, by tapping into the experiences of those running successful seafarers’ centres.
Tom Holmer of the ITF Seafarers’ Trust commented: “Seafarers’centres offer seafarers a safe environment to turn to at any time. That’s why it’s important to ensure that existing and new centres are sustainable.”
