Rate of ratification of maritime labour conventions gains pace
The welcome acceleration in the ratification of International Labour Organisation (ILO) maritime conventions since the start of the year should encourage maritime unions around the world to push their own countries to ratify the three recent conventions. They are ILO convention 185 on seafarers’ identity documents, the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) and ILO convention 188 on work in fishing. Only ILO convention 185 is currently in force. more >>
