Milhões de mulheres trabalham na indústria dos transportes em todo o mundo, como maquinistas e condutoras, trabalhadoras portuárias, tripulações de cabine nas linhas aéreas, executivas, funcionárias de escritórios, etc. Tal como a maioria dos trabalhadores da indústria, as mulheres estão vendo a globalização, desregulamentação e privatização apertar os seus postos de trabalho, os seus salários e suas condições de trabalho. Ao mesmo tempo, as mulheres têm enfrentado salários e direitos desiguais, portas fechadas, ma prestação de maternidade, discriminação e assédio.
O objetivo central da campanha da ITF é organizar as mulheres em atividades sindicais, para capacitá–las e garantir melhores condições de trabalho, mais direitos e igualdade com os seus companheiros masculinos.
