Presentation of Peruvian Aviation Workers’ Federation

Last Monday was presented and legitimized the Federación de Trabajadores Auronáuticos de Perú -FEDATA-Peru, to the Congress of the Republic of Peru. The President of Sindicato de Lan Perú Union, ITF affiliate, Liliana Saavedra, made the formal presentation.
The Federation's mission is to ensure air safety, to defend workers' rights, strengthen the quality of service to users and to disseminate the importance of aviation safety among civil aviation workers. Some of its aims are to highlight the labour of aviation workers through professional recognition by the Education Ministry, as a result of the high standards of aviation technology in the world, early retirement for heavy duty, labour security, laws for hazardous work, defence and restitution of labour rights, job training, among others.From this date, FEDATA-Peru is the only Federation in Peru who has legitimization. Seven unions compose it, some of them ITF affiliate, and represent more than 1,600 aviation workers such as pilots, crew, assistants and air traffic controllers.
"Today is a new era for Peruvian aviation unions. The Federation is born with 7 unions, but we believe that in the near future will be composed by all civil aviation workers in Perú." affirmed Liliana Saavedra during his presentation speech.
Gabriel Mocho, ITF civil aviation section secretary, said: "It is a very good news that unions in Latin America are organizing in common structures and the best part, as in this case, a woman presiding. This shows once again, what our sisters are capable to perform leading this effort of solidarity in defence of civil aviation workers. "
