O Comitê Diretor de Marítimos, tendo sido informado que o SINDMAR foi obrigado a iniciar um movimento de greve no setor de Offshore do Brasil, iniciado na segunda-feira, na empresa norte-americana SEACOR Offshore do Brasil, e que se estenderá a outras, começando pela BRAM OFFSHORE Transportes Marítimos Ltda., filial de Edison Chouest.

RESOLVE

SOLIDARIZAR-SE com o movimento de Greve do SINDMAR, que se viu forçado a tomar este tipo de ação devido à intransigência de algumas empresas do Offshore. EXIGIR que as empresas do Offshore do Brasil respeitem os direitos dos Marítimos e garantam condições justas e de acordo com a indústria no Brasil.

REJEITAR qualquer iniciativa da Justiça que tente limitar, impedir ou eliminar o direito de greve conforme disposto no Convênio 98 da OIT.

FELICITAR a todos os Marítimos afiliados ao SINDMAR por sua total adesão ao movimento de Greve e convocá-los a manter esta unidade até que se consiga condiciones dignas e justas a bordo.

Union takes sheriff to court over Longview tactics
The ILWU (International Longshore and Warehouse Union) has filed a lawsuit against the sheriff of Cowlitz County, the City of Longview police chief, Cowlitz County and the City of Longview, USA. The suit alleges the use of disproportionate force against ILWU members demonstrating at the city’s new port grain terminal, whose owners have ignored the 80 year history of ILWU membership at the port and recruited non-ILWU members. Two weeks ago the union’s president, Bob McEllrath, was detained by police at a demonstration at the port.
