Employees working for DHL in Australia have successfully negotiated a deal giving them a wage increase and other benefits.

The ITF-affiliated Transport Workers’ Union of Australia, which represents the workers, negotiated two agreements towards the end of last year; the DHL Express agreement covers workers at a site at Sydney airport exclusively, while the DHL Express Gateway agreement covers employees at three separate sites in Sydney’s suburbs: Mascot, Silverwater and Artarmon.

The agreements, which will benefit some 180 workers – from couriers, telephone and radio operators to handlers and warehouse and aircraft employees – stipulate a three per cent wage rise for three years. Up to 85 per cent of employees will also receive a productivity bonus of 1.5 per cent, based on weekly targets.

A site agreement was also included in the deal. This provides workers with other benefits such as specific entitlements, training, a union picnic day, and the right of union representatives to meet with all new employees.
