25 April 2008
Postal workers across Germany are being balloted over indefinite strike action after negotiations failed to resolve the ongoing dispute between the ITF-affiliated union Ver.di and Deutsche Post.
Workers represented by the union have been railing against plans to increase weekly working hours and limit job protection. They are also demanding a seven per cent wage hike over 12 months. Talks between the union and Deutsche Post broke down last Sunday.
Workers are to be balloted from 25 to 29 April on indefinite strike action from 2 May.
