The ITF’s Special Seafarers Department is the part if the ITF Secretariat that supports the FOC campaign. Its specialist staff coordinates and provides information and services to the ITF’s network of ship Inspectors, provides assistance to unions and to seafarers with problems or claims on substandard ships, and deals with the issuing and monitoring of ITF-approved agreements on Flag of Convenience ships.
