Since 2004, the ETF has been celebrating the International Women’s Day - 8th March – by organising country visits where ETF Women’s Committee delegates meet with women workers and trade union leaders of ETF affiliated members at workplace.
The visits aim:
- to meet women transport workers in the workplace and discuss aspects of their day-to-day professional life, interests and concerns;
- to discuss with trade union officials and women’s representatives ways to better represent the interests of female workforce.
Moreover, the “bilaterals” open doors for informal networking across Europe between women in the industry. Four country visits have been so far organised by the ETF: Croatia, Romania, Lithuania, Turkey.
