Activities and Campaigns

The ETF Road Transport Section works tirelessly throughout the year to preserve the dignity of professional drivers. Its activities span from facilitating regional trade union networks, to promoting the involvement and training of unions from New Member States and non-EU countries; from organising and participating in conferences and seminars (ETUI-ETF, etc.), to working with the ITF on campaigning, such as the ITF International Action Week. Country visits are also on the agenda; as those working in the section strive to stay aware of important developments in its affiliates’ homelands, and to exchange trade union experiences. Along with the various activities mentioned above, the ETF Road Transport Section runs campaigns to improve working conditions within the industry. Its most recent campaign, launched in early 2009, was on the Working Time Directive for Professional Drivers.
