IRU and ETF agree to work together on 12-day derogation in Coach Tourism

11/04/08

The ETF and the IRU will provide joint input to the EU Institutions during their ongoing political process to solve the 12 day issue.

The IRU and the ETF as committed social partners favouring social dialogue recognise the importance of finding through a number of meetings an urgent joint solution for the 12 day derogation in EU driving and rest rules. This must be a satisfactory solution for all parties ensuring road safety as well as the social and business needs of drivers and companies. To achieve this within the current legislative process the ETF and IRU undertake to provide at the latest by mid May, an input to the European Institutions´ current drafting of the legislation needed to introduce an improved 12 day derogation.
