Commission communication "Improving the Economic Situation of Fishing Industry"(COM (2006)103 final)

In March 2006 the European Commission issued a Communication on instruments to be adopted by Member States to help the fishing sector to overcoming the economic crisis it is facing. The ETF Fisheries Section presented its first assessement straight to Commissioner Borg, the day after the Communication has been issued, during a meeting between the Commissioner and a Section’s delegation.

After a careful analysis of the Commission’s text and having launched an internal debate on it, the ETF Fisheries Section released its position paper in May 2006.
