About ITF Education

Education is an important tool to help build strong unions in response to the global restructuring of the transport industry. The ITF places emphasis on education activities which deal with issues linked to globalisation in the transport industry, relate to the industrial priorities of the different transport sectors, and are coordinated on a sub-regional, regional and global level. Both industrialised and developing countries are targeted. For more information >>

Organising manual set to help increase union power

A brand new tool to help build union power was launched at an event in the UK recently. The ITF organising manual was launched at a well-attended ITF education and organising conference in Surrey, UK, from 28-30 June. It aims to increase worker participation to achieve the ultimate goal of enhancing union power in the workplace and across the transport industry. More>>

ITF education and organising conference

The ITF Education and Organising Globally departments organised a joint global conference in Britain from 28-30 June 2011. The overall aim was to strengthen education and organising strategies within the ITF and its affiliates. Organising has been a core feature of ITF work since the ITF 41st Congress in Durban 2006, where Organising Globally was adopted as a work programme. More information>>

Transport toolkit

The ITF transport toolkit is a resource to help affiliates tackle the challenges of industrial restructuring in which international financial institutions, particularly the World Bank, are involved. We have developed the toolkit in partnership with Public World and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation.

Strategic campaigns manual

*Strategic Manual

The ITF has produced the strategic campaigns manual as part of a project supported by FNV Mondiaal. The manual is designed to help unions plan specific campaigns, which target either employers or government.

The manual is a step by step guide on how to plan and implement an effective campaign. Modules include identifying targets that could bring pressure to bear on the main target, developing strategies and tactics, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and case studies of actual campaigns.
