Education
Education is an important tool to help build strong unions in response to the global restructuring of the transport industry. The ITF places emphasis on education activities which deal with issues linked to globalisation in the transport industry, relate to the industrial priorities of the different transport sectors, and are coordinated on a sub-regional, regional and global level. ITF Regional summer school 2008:-My experience of the summer school
What do a wharfy, bus driver, cabin crew member, ITF Inspector, air traffic controller have in common? These were some of the people that came together during the first ITF Regional Summer School for unions in the Asia/Pacific region, held in Panvel (India) on 22-26 September 2008.
The theme of the Summer School was ‘Education for Organising’ and the sessions during the week covered different aspects of organising including the changing nature of transport and challenges faced by unions in the region, as well as how unions can develop strategic organising campaigns in response to these changes and challenges. more>>

“Universal action now”
This was the theme of the 17th International AIDS conference, as more than 7000 new infections occur each day and the infection rate is still increasing in many countries. Over 24,000 participants from 194 countries gathered in Mexico City from 3-8 August 2008, to discuss and share ideas on policy issues including universal access to HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support. more>>
Strategic Campaigns Manual
The ITF has produced a strategic campaigns manual as part of a project supported by FNV Mondiaal. The manual is designed to help unions plan specific campaigns, which target either employers or government.
The manual is a step by step guide on how to plan and implement an effective campaign. Modules include identifying targets that could bring pressure to bear on the main target, developing strategies and tactics, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and case studies of actual campaigns. more >>
Education Modules
As part of the ITF global project 'Training the Trainers', the Education Department has completed 2 education modules entitled 'Introducing the ITF' and 'Transport logistics'.
The modules are designed to support education activities relating to issues of globalisation, transport restructuring and how trade unions can respond and develop new strategies.
