Delegates call for immediate ceasefire
8 August 2006
Congress voted overwhelmingly today in favour of an emergency motion calling for an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon.
Moving the motion, Bob Crow of RMT (UK) said the resolution did not take sides. “We are against terrorism, and we should also be against countries destroying other countries with weapons of mass destruction. We are aiming to organise globally to improve the living standards of working men and women. But without peace, you won’t achieve any of those aims.”Back to current news online stories
