Support for Tehran bus union
4 August 2006
Delegates at today’s congress queued up to sign a flag expressing solidarity for members of the Union of Workers of the Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company.
Following a mass arrest of striking workers in January, an international trade union campaign helped secure the release of all detainees except their president Mansour Osanloo, whose health is said to be deteriorating.
Trade unions are demanding the immediate, unconditional release of Osanloo as well as the reinstatement of workers sacked following the strike, and recognition of the union.
