Mapping survey set to assist in ITF global work programme
27 July 2006
Transport unions are being invited to contribute to the development of the ITF’s global programme of work by participating in a major mapping survey.
All ITF-affiliated unions attending the federation’s Congress in Durban, South Africa, next week, will be asked to complete a survey on membership; unions without a delegation to Congress are also being encouraged to participate.
The questionnaire, available online, will ask unions about how they are organising in logistics firms - DHL, TNT, Fedex, UPS and Maersk - or in companies owned by them. They will also be invited to supply information on membership in the oil, gas and chemical industries as well as in civil aviation.
Stuart Howard, ITF Assistant General Secretary said: “There are many other companies and operations which we shall need to map in due time. This is the start of an ongoing mapping process, which aims to assist the ITF to take a more strategic approach to its global programme of work.”
