Malaysia
On 13 August, more than 50 representatives from ITF affiliates including the MAS Employees' Union; the Transport Workers' Union; Seafarers Union; UNIPASS; Penang Port Workers' Union; and the Malaysian Airport Berhad Workers' Union gathered in front of the Iranian Embassy between 09h30 and 12h00 to deliver a protest letter from the ITF Malaysian Council. After much discussion between the delegation and the Embassy, a member of the Embassy staff was sent to receive the letter. Demanding to deliver the letter to an Embassy official, the union delegation refused to hand over the letter and sent it by registered post instead. (Email report by Zainal Rampak)
Germany
Despite heavy rain, about 50 people, both Iranian and German, assembled in front of the Iranian Consulate in Frankfurt am Main on 9 August. Speeches in German and Farsi were made, demanding the immediate release of Mansour Osanloo and Mahmoud Salehi, and urging the Iranian government to respect union rights and to put an end to torture and the death penalty. The Consul refused to receive a petition of protest from the delegation.
