Argentina
The ship officers' union CCUOMM organised an event with women members to exchange experiences. A report of the information gathered will be published.

Australia
Women in the Maritime Union of Australia, prioritised the day by wearing white ribbons, carrying out community education and fundraising for women's refuges. A speech by General Secretary Paddy Crumlin can be found on the MUA's website.

France
The FTGE-CFDT distributed electronic cards and white ribbons to mark the day 

Guyana
The Clerical and Commercial Workers' Union joined with the women's affairs bureau of Guyana to organise various events including a handprinting activitiy and a rally which took place on 21 November. A symposium took place on 26 November.

India
The Dock Workers' Union held workshops on Gender Sensatisation, Violence against Women and workplace issues for women employees of Mumbai port to mark 25th November, 2006. Kalpana Desai welcomed all 25 participants and conducted the workshop. During the seminar, various sexual harrassment problems came up. The workshop concluded that women were more likely to report stress in their jobs.

The All-India Railwaymens' Federation, covering 16 regional areas and six production units, is holding seminars, mass meetings and demonstrations involving large numbers of railway women and families of railway workers. All wore white ribbons to the event.

Honduras
ITF union SITRAENP held a workshop on 24 November, with the participation of women and men union members and sympathetic organisations. On 25th November, the unoin distributed leaflets to the public. 

Ireland
SIPTU distributed copies of the 2007 calendar to its women's activists

Italy
FILT-CGIL posted information about the day on its website

Jordan
In Jordan, the transport unions held a one-day seminar on this subject. Workers will wear T-shirts and strips bearing the slogan:"STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST YOUR SISTER ", "STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST YOUR MOTHER", "STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST YOUR DAUGHTER".

Mauritius
The ITF-affiliated Artisans and General Workers' Union held a one-day worshop, with the contributions of experts from research bodies and on women's rights. Media work including a press conference was also carried out.

Mongolia
the Federation of Mongolian railway workers' unions held a training programme and distributed leaflets.

Morocco
The UMT in Morocco organised a large public demonstration involving large numbers of women transport workers, and carried out press work to publicise the issue.

Philippines
The Philippine Seafarers' Union PSU-ALU held a symposium and violence and HIV/AIDS awareness, attended by seafarers' families and women staff of manning agencies.

Serbia
The railway union held a press conference on 25 November, organised a delegation of women to lobby parliament and visited safe houses for women.

Spain
The CC.OO. transport federation joined in trade union demonstrations and public events throughout the country. The union published a leaflet which was distributed in airports and railway stations, bearing the slogan "measure the violence". The union also distributed ITF materials, and is exploring ways to include the issue in collective bargaining.

In the Basque country, ELA Sindikatua participated in events in Bilbao, Donostia-San Sebastian, Pamplona and Vitoria-Gasteiz and also launched a magazine covering issues of concern to women, which will appear in conjunction with 25 November and 8 March every year.

Thailand
ITF affiliates in Thailand agreed to distribute whistles and to visit a women's training centre on 25 November. A joint demonstration and "hand-holding" with the participation of students was organised on 24 November, and all the unions will meet to explore the problem in depth on 29 November.

United States
The Teamsters union sent a mailing out to 800 women who recently attended a Teamsters Women's Conference advising them about the November 25 date as well as the 16 day campaign of Activism Against Gender Violence and referred them to the Take Action Kit website.

The IAM carried out a massive email campaign with background information on the UN establishment of the day and calling for awareness on the subject.  The union used ITF postcards, put the date in many of its newsletters and sent out purple ribbons for members to wear.
