The Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions has reported the death of Fathi Nasser, the PGFTU’s legal officer.

Ghada Abu Ghalyoun of the PGFTU told the ITF: “We would like to express our great sorrow and sadness for the death of Brother Fathi Nasser, who served our organisation for many years. We consider his death a great loss for the Palestinian trade union movement. We will have a special memory of him, his actions and events.”

David Cockroft, ITF general secretary, said: “Fathi Nasser was a leading figure in trade unionism both in Palestine and abroad. We will particularly remember him as a very close friend and supporter of the ITF Palestine road project, and its aim of improving the lives of Palestinian worker drivers.”

Bilal Malkawi, ITF Arab World representative, commented: “This is sad news. Fathi Nasser’s loss extends beyond those who knew him, and is a loss to the trade union movement in Palestine itself.”
