ETF Position on the Reform of the CFP
On the 13th of July 2011 the European Commission has adopted a package of proposals on the reform of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). In its response to the measures proposed by the Commission, the ETF shares the need for a structural reform of the CFP but regrets the lack of attention paid to the economic and social consequences that the proposed developments would have for workers. more >>

LAAF Cabin Crew Union resolves dispute with airBaltic
Mid-November, the ETF received the information from LAAF Latvian Cabin Crew Union about the struggle of the airBaltic workers facing layoffs and intimidations by the air company due to alleged financial difficulties airBaltic is currently experiencing. The ETF affiliated union explained that the company dismissed non-unionised cabin crew and temporarily discharged union members from their formal duties in airBaltic, among them the deputy chairman of the union board. The company also invoked shortage of workforce to cancel crewmembers’ Christmas holidays. more >>

ETF expresses concerns regarding “Georgian Railway” LLC’s leadership’s attacks on workers’ rights
The ETF has learnt from its affiliate, the Georgian Railway Workers Union, about the “Georgian Railway” LCC leadership’s lack of respect towards fundamental rights as the right of association, employability, health and social security, by amending and terminating unilaterally a collective agreement, violating international conventions and rejecting the Georgian Railway Workers Union as a legitimate partner in the social dialogue. more >>
